Select multiple components from the Components browser
To perform an action on multiple components at once, you can select a few components, an entire page, or all pages of components in a folder from the Components browser. The actions you can take on multiple components at once are displayed as icons.
When you're working in the Components browser, the options you see on the Selected Components panel are different from those you can see when working in a project. For more information, read Select multiple project components to update.
To select multiple components from the Components browser:
-
Click
Components.
- In the Folders pane, navigate to the folder where you've saved the components.
-
In the Components pane, locate the components you want to open.
Note: You can verify you have the correct component by looking in the Content details pane at the preview.
If the pane isn't open, click the down arrow in the pane's title bar. -
To set the number of components listed on a page, at the bottom of the list, next to Items per page, from the drop-down menu select a quantity.
Inspire remembers how you customize this setting. The next time you open the Components tab, Inspire uses your choice instead of the default. If you want Inspire to forget your customization and return to showing the default number of Items per page, you must re-select the default or clear your browser's cache.
- To add a component to the Selected Components panel, select the checkbox at the beginning of the component's row.
-
To select all components on the page, at the top of the component list, in the header row, click the arrow next to the Select All
checkbox and then click the Select all items from this page option from the list.
-
To select all components on all pages, at the top of the component list, in the header row, click the arrow next to the Select All
checkbox and then click the Select all (number of) items option from the list.
Note: This option displays the number of items in the folder or displays 1000. If the folder contains more than 1000 components, you can't use Select all (number of) items to select all components from that folder. -
On the Selected Components panel, do one of the following:
- Use
the Options menu options to work with the component:
- Edit - Opens the component in the Oxygen XML Editor. If the component is a workflow, then it's opened in the workflow editor. This option doesn't work for binary components.
- View - Opens the component in the Oxygen XML Editor as Read Only. If the component is a workflow, then it's opened in the workflow editor as Read Only. If the component is a binary, then it's opened in a viewer.
- Go to - Displays the component on the Components tab in the grid and selects the component. If the component isn't listed on the first page, then Inspire displays the page where the component is listed.
- Add the Language column to see the language code. This tells you the language and region that components are written in.
- Put your cursor in the Name column.
- Click the drop-down arrow that appears.
- Select Columns and then the checkbox for Language.
To hide the Language column again, repeat steps a-c and clear the check box for Language.
By default, the Language column is hidden.
- If you choose to display it, Inspire remembers this and changes the default to always show the Language column by default.
- The next time you open the Selected Components panel, the Language column is displayed.
- If you don't want the Language column to be displayed by default, clear your browser's cache. This returns the default display to hide the Language column.
