Inspire Release 2024.2.3.0

Enhancements to administration

Enable a Submit confirmation

After users create a reference in one component to another component, Inspire tracks the relationship. When users make changes to an existing component, they might be editing content that is used by another component. If you want to help users manage referenced content, you can enable a confirmation feature in the Oxygen editor.

If enabled, in the Oxygen editor, after a user clicks Save and Submit, they are asked to confirm if they made changes to content that is referenced by another component. Users can see the component that will be affected by the updates on the Where used screen. Users can choose from the following options: Submit, Save as..., Branch, and Cancel.

For more details, read: Enable a Submit confirmation.

Change the language of multiple selected project components

When an administrator selects multiple project components, they can change them all to the same language. The language you select is applied to all selected components at the root level element in the xml:lang attribute.

For more details, read: Change the language for multiple project components.

See associated project and review details when managing users

As an Inspire administrator, you can manage users that already have an Inspire license. On the User Management tab, you can open the User Details screen and see the new Projects and Reviews tabs. On the new tabs where the details are read-only, you can use the Options menu to access the Go To option. This is helpful if you want to see the project or review where the user is participating. On the Reviews tab, you have an additional option to Open Review.

For more details, read: Update user accounts.

Only Administrators can change the language for multiple components on the Selected Components panel

For any existing component, you can change the language attribute. When you select multiple components, you can change them all to the same language. The language you select is applied to the root level element in the xml:lang attribute. You must have Administrator permissions to use the Multi-Component Language Change option in the Selected Components pane.

For more details, read: Change the language for multiple components.

Set a user time out

By default, a user can remain inactive in Inspire for 15 minutes. After that time is exceeded, if the user is still inactive, they are automatically signed out. An administrator can change this interval of time or disable the inactivity timer.

For more details, read: Set a user time out.

GlobalLink Transport has been renamed to GlobalLink Portal

As an administrator, you can create a translation integration method called GlobalLink Portal (formerly TransPort) to let translation coordinators know that Inspire communicates with an external application called GlobalLink Project Director when content is ready to be translated.

For more details, read: Add a GlobalLink Portal integration method.

Enhancements to content authoring

Use EPS graphics in your XML content

Inspire now supports the EPS (Encapsulated Post Script) image type. You can import an EPS graphic into an Inspire folder and see it represented by the default binary image icon.

When working in the Oxygen XML editor, you can insert it using the menu, copying and pasting it in, and dragging the file in and dropping it. You can also format EPS image attributes like height, width, and scaling. Note that the EPS image only displays in Oxygen when the graphic was created with a preview in the source application. For example, Adobe Illustrator.

For more details, read: Work with images in Oxygen.

In Oxygen, find relationships with other topics

When you edit a document, you can see the structure of XML elements in the Outline panel. From this outline you can access a right-click menu by selecting an element. If you select any root node, referenced element, or the Concept element, you can see an option called Where used. This option lets you see other topics that reference the one you are editing without leaving the Oxygen editor.

For more details, read: Find relationships with other topics in the Outline panel.

Create valid relationships with file names that contain Chinese characters

Previously, if you inserted an image that had Chinese characters in the filename into a topic, Inspire created an invalid reference. Now, you can add a Chinese image to a topic and Inspire creates a valid relationship. You can also add a conref and a topicref to a Chinese topic, and Inspire creates a valid relationship. In all instances, the topics and maps can be published

For more details, read: Link to existing content.

Enhancements to component management

Use branch labels

When you're creating a branch, you can now add a Label. This allows you to add more information about why the branch was created or a version number. The Label is attached to the component name. For example, for a source component named Introduction, you can use a branch Label of MarketTest. This creates a branched copy called Introduction_MarketTest.

For more details, read: How can I track a branch?

Show the new Language column

You can now choose to see a Language column in the Selected Components panel. When you are working in the Components browser and Projects, you can show this column that is hidden by default. When shown, this new column displays the language of the component.

For more details, read: Select multiple components from the Components browser.

Work with deleted components in Changesets

You can go to the Changesets tab to see an ongoing record of all changes made to every component in your instance of Inspire. To find the changes where components were deleted, you can select a new filter option called Show Deleted. To restore the components in one of these changesets, at the end of the row, use the Options menu to select Restore. If the component already exists, you see an error that the component cannot be restored because it exists. To access the Changesets module, you must have one of the following permissions, Administrator or Changesets module.

For more details, read: Restore a changeset to a current component.

You can’t delete a folder that contains a component included in a publishing profile

After you add a component to a publishing profile, Inspire remembers that it is being used. If a user tries to delete a folder that contains a component included in a publishing profile, they see the following message: "Cannot delete components because one or more are used in a publishing profile. Clear all publishing profile references to these components or remove them from your selection and try again." The user sees this warning and can't delete the component(s).

For more details, read: Work with publishing profiles.

Enhancements to translation management

See fixes to translation job processing and status

Previously, if you selected multiple languages for a translation job, and all the files for one of the languages has already been translated, the translation job was not created. You saw an error of "FailedSending" and the Integration tab showed a “Missing batch zip file” error. Now when this condition happens, the language with files that have already been translated (no files to translate) is removed from the job and the translation job is successfully created.

You can now also successfully send Reference Only files to PD for multiple languages.

The Translation job state "PartiallyCompleted" is now set properly when a job is saved and not all components are completed or cancelled.

For more details, read: Translate Components.

Publish Server 2024.2.3.0

Users can delete and download their own jobs

Previously, if a user who was not an Administrator tried to delete or download a publishing job they created, they saw a message telling them they did not have permission to access the requested resource. Now, users who are not Administrators can delete or download a publishing job they create.

For more details, read:

See the correct time zone in the publishing job file name

After a publishing job completes successfully, the published file is named using the following format: Publish-{ComponentName}-YYYY-MM-DD-HHHHMM. Previously, the date and time portion of the filename (YYYY-MM-DD-HHHHMM) did not use the time zone of the user who is creating the publishing job. Now, when a user creates a publishing job, the file name includes the date and time as it is set in the user's time zone.

For more details, read: Things you can do in Publish Server.
