Enable a Submit confirmation

After users create a reference in one component to another component, Inspire tracks the relationship. When users make changes to an existing component, they might be editing content that is used by another component. If you want to help users manage referenced content, you can enable a confirmation feature in the Oxygen editor.

By default, this feature is not enabled.

  • If users make changes to content that is referenced by another component, there is no warning or confirmation.
  • Inspire saves the changes and closes the Oxygen editor without any interaction.
  • This may result in a reference having a Status of Invalid.

Enabling this feature.

In the Oxygen editor, after a user clicks Save and Submit, they are asked to confirm if they made changes to content that is referenced by another component.

Users can see the component that will be affected by the updates on the Where used screen.

Users can choose from the following options: Submit, Save as..., Branch, and Cancel. For more information, read Confirm your changes.

To enable a Submit confirmation:

  1. From the Administration menu, select Advanced Settings, and then Features management.

  2. On the Features Management tab:
    1. After SubmitConfirmation, note the state. If the feature says false, the user is not warned if the changes they made to the content is referenced by another component.
    2. After SubmitConfirmation, click Update.
  3. The checkbox is highlighted in blue. To change the state, clear or select the checkbox.

    • To enable the feature, type in true. If the feature is set to true, the user is warned if the changes they made to the content is referenced by another component.
    • To turn off the feature, type in false. The user can make changes to content referenced by another component without warning.
  4. Click Update.
