Set a user time out

By default, a user can remain inactive in Inspire for 15 minutes. After that time is exceeded, if the user is still inactive they are automatically signed out. An administrator can change this interval of time or disable the inactivity timer.

Default - 15 minutes

  • After a user signs into Inspire, they can remain inactive for 15 minutes. After that time, they are automatically signed out.
  • The user is returned to the Sign in page.

Customized Timeout settings

  • Make sure you enter a number that represents the interval time in minutes. For example, if you want to allow 2 hours of inactivity, you must enter 120.
  • Do not enter the word minutes.
  • Entering 0 or anything less than 0 disables the inactivity timer.

    • Keep in mind that disabling this timer may prevent other users from signing into Inspire if you have shared or limited licenses.

To set a user time out:

  1. From the Administration menu, select Advanced Settings, and then Features management.
  2. On the Features Management tab:
    1. After UserInactivityTimeoutInMinute, note the number. Any number equal to 1 or greater enables the timeout feature.
    2. After UserInactivityTimeoutInMinute, click Update.
  3. To change the period of time that a user can remain inactive:

    • To enable the feature, enter a number that represents the interval time in minutes. Do not enter the word minutes.
    • To disable the feature, enter 0 or anything less than 0.
  4. Click Update.

    Results:

    The next time a user signs in to Inspire:

    • If you kept this feature enabled, the user is allowed to be inactive for the amount of time you specified before automatically being signed out.
    • If you disabled this feature, the user is never automatically signed out of Inspire by an inactivity timer.
