Inspire Release 2024.1.4.0
Enhancements to component management
Change the language of multiple files at once
For more details, read: Change the language for multiple components.
See an improvement when working with folder permissions
For more details, read: Organize folders.
New permissions needed when importing with subfolders
You can create a new folder structure in Inspire by importing a ZIP file that contains subfolders. If you want a user or an application administrator wants to do this, they must have the required permissions. You can grant the required permissions by adding the user or Application Administrators role to the Content Browser module property called can_create_import_subfolders.
For more details, read:
- Allow application administrators to import subfolders
- Import a folder structure from the Components browser
Folders used in a publishing profile cannot be deleted
Previously, if you tried to delete a folder that contains a component used a publishing profile, only the components that are not referenced are deleted and the folder remains.
Now, if you try to delete a folder that contains a component used a publishing profile, nothing is deleted and you see the following message: "Cannot delete components because one or more are used in a publishing profile. Clear all publishing profile references to these components or remove them from your selection and try again."

Enhancements to translation management
When pivoting to English first, see the translation jobs created properly
Previously, if you sent files to translation that were not in English and needed to translate them to English before translating them to another language (pivoting), you might have seen issues. Now, when you pivot to English, the second job for a translation pivot contains the same number of files as the first. You will also see that the second job for a Translation Pivot exports selected components only.
For more details, read: Translating a foreign language to English first.
Automatically publish completed translations with attachments
If you normally publish your content after the translation process is complete, you can also include an attachment of the published content. When you create the translation job, you can use the Publish tab to schedule create an attachment when the translation is complete.
For more details, read: Optionally configure automatic publishing of translation.
Enhancements to publishing
Reschedule multiple publishing profiles at once
After you set up a publishing schedule for components, you can update the schedule for multiple publishing profiles at once from the Selected Components pane. Use this option when you want to change multiple profiles at the same time. Updating multiple schedules at the same time means they are all set to the same schedule and publish at the same time.
For more details, read: Reschedule multiple profiles at once.
Use characters reserved for XPath and system variables in a job's Publish Name
You can configure how your Inspire content is sent to Publish Server to reduce the amount of manual entry. Using characters reserved for XPath and system variables in the job's Publish Name lets you pull in data so you don't have to type it in every time you send the component out for publishing.
In Publish Name, you can use the following characters that are reserved for tokens:
- { The left curly brace defines the start of a variable
- } The right curly brace defines the end of a variable
- $ The dollar sign identifies an object in the same way that a name or variable does. Variables, functions, properties, events, and objects can be identified by the $ sign.
For more details, read: Use tokens in the publishing job Name.
Work on the Publishing Profiles tab without seeing display issues
Previously, when you were working on the Publishing Profiles tab, if you used the page controls to move to another page to see more profiles listed, the Validate XML column values changed incorrectly. Now when you move between pages the Validate XML column values are correct.
For more details, read: Work with publishing profiles.
Use a profile to schedule a Once-only publishing event in the future
For more details, read: Publish once in the future.
See the label change on the Publish Component screen
When you select one component and choose the Publish option, the Publish Component screen opens. The first field that was previously called Name is now renamed to Publish Name. You do not see this change when publishing multiple components because the Publish Name field is hidden when you select more than one component to publish. You also do not see this change when creating or updating a profile. You do see this change when publishing one component from the Components tab, project, and snapshot. You also see this when publishing one or more components from a profile.
For more details, read: Publish your content.
Enhancements to administration
Use element management to set new properties
For more details, read:
Use attribute management to specify a schema standard
You can create and update attributes to provide more information about XML elements you use in your content. Specifically, attributes define properties of elements. Now you are required to select the schema version that must be used to validate an attribute. For example, DITA_1.3.
For more details, read:
Use a publishing configuration to import a published deliverable automatically
A publish configuration lets an administrator specify commonly used publishing settings. Now, in a publishing configuration, an administrator can add the option to import the published deliverable back into Inspire automatically.
For more details, read: Use a publishing configuration to import deliverables.
Publish Server 2024.1.3.0
After authoring your content in Inspire, you can publish components in a format your customers can read. The portal for Publish Server lets you manage publishing jobs after you submit them in Inspire.
Enhancements to job management
Select and download multiple jobs at the same time
For more details, read: Things you can do in Publish Server.
