Enhancements to component management

When changing a component's language, Inspire may add the direction (dir) attribute

After you create a component, you can change its language attribute.

  • The language you select is applied to the root level element in the xml:lang attribute.
  • This changes which dictionary Inspire loads when you open a component to edit it.
  • To ensure content that is read from Right-to-Left displays correctly in Oxygen, for the language you choose, Inspire may also set the component's Reading property.

You must have Administrator permissions to see the Change language option in the Components browser.

For more details, read: Change a component's language.

Create a File Name that's different from the Component Name

When you create a new component, you now have the option to override the default file name.

  • Inspire uses different names for the same component to help you find a topic quickly no matter what task you are doing.
  • The Component name can be user friendly to help authors and coordinators quickly understand the topic's content.
  • The File Name includes:
    • The Component Name (which you can override)
    • A GUID and the extension (file type) is added by Inspire (which you cannot override)

By default, the File Name is the same as the Component Name, except with underscores instead of spaces.

  • This makes it easier for Web services, scripts, and plugins to process.

Access the Approve option quicker

When you select a component and open the Options menu, the Approve option is now available without having to open the Actions sub-menu first.

Enhancements to review management

Take new actions on a review report

As a participant in a review or an administrator, you can create a report to see:

  • If comments were discussed
  • If suggested changes were included in the final document
  • The reason for accepting or rejecting the changes

You can now take the following actions by clicking on a link in the report:

  • To open a component in the Oxygen editor or a read-only viewer, click the link with the Component Name. You can find this in the Review Components section. (For example, Manage Users.)
    • The component is opened in a read-only viewer.
    • You can see the review state listed after the component's File Name.
  • To open the Components Browser and go to the folder that contains the component, click the link with the File Name.
    • You can find this in the Review Components section.
    • For example, User_management_71faa9a8-86e0-4118-a8a2-9bdaae8dbb92.xml.

For more details, read: Create a report for a review.

Optionally approve components after resolving a review

When a review is in a State of Resolving, after you mark the entire review as Completed, you have the option to approve components in the review.

  • This approval feature applies only to reviews that are not part of a workflow.
  • This approval feature is available regardless of whether approval requires an electronic signature or not.

All components may not be approved, depending on the selections you make when creating the review and the Review Scope.

  • If you select the Review option for a component, and it has a Review Scope of In Review, Inspire approves it if you select Yes. This is true even if the component has a Type of Binary.
  • If a component in the review has a Review Scope of In Review, but you do not select the Review option, it remains unchanged.
  • If a component in the review has a Review Scope of Context Only, it remains unchanged.

On the Review Management tab, you can add two new columns to the grid if you want to see approval information quickly:

  • Approved
  • Comment

By default, these columns are not shown.

For more details, read: Approving review components.

Enhancements to translation management

See an updated label on the Translate component screen

When you create a translation job on the Translate component screen, the option to Include binary now says Translate binary.

This option still performs the same function of including binary files in the translation work.

For more details, read: Send one component to translation.

See the Inspire Job Id in Project Director

When you create a translation job, if you select a PD Rest Api configuration, then you can add the Inspire Translation Job Id to the Submission Name.

  • This lets you see the Inspire Job Id in Project Director
  • As a best practice, whenever you create a translation job for Project Director, you should select Prepend Translation Job Id to Submission Name.

The Prepend Translation Job Id to Submission Name option is not selected by default.

For more details, read: Automate translation with Project Director.

Send only approved components to translation

By default, a translation coordinator can select any unlocked component and send it to translation.

However, an administrator can remove the ability to send a component to translation unless it has been approved.

If an administrator sets the optional TranslationApprovedOnly feature to true and enables it:

  • In the Components browser, when using the right-click or Options menu, the Translate option cannot be selected if the component is not approved.

If the topic is approved, for example a map, but the references are not:

  • The coordinator sees errors for those components that are not approved.

The translation job can't be created until one of the following occurs:

  • The TranslationApprovedOnly feature is not enabled (set to false).
  • The coordinator approves all referenced components.
  • On the Translate component screen, the coordinator clears the Include referenced components option.

Enhancements to administration

Save an export configuration with a new name

After you create an export configuration, you can save it under a new name.

For more details, read: Configure what content is exported.

See an updated label when working with Admin Publish configurations

In the Administration module, on the Publish Configuration, Create Publish Configurations, and Update Publish Configurations screens, the Skip Validation option now says Validate XML.

  • This change was made to be consistent with all other publishing screens.
  • By default this option is not selected.

For more details, read: Manage publishing configurations.
