Inspire Release 2024.3.5.0

Enhancements to component management

Use the Changesets module new sub tab to see Histories

To see how a specific component has changed over time, you can use the new Histories sub-tab. Both the Changesets and Histories tabs show you the user who performed the update and what the action was that created the changeset record.

For more details, read: See the history for a component in a changeset.

See what component an attachment is related to

To find out where an attached component is used by other components in Inspire, open the component's Details and go to the Attachments tab. Here you can use the new References bottom panel to see a list of components that have a relationship with the attachment. You can see the Name, FileName and Path of other components related to an attachment. You can use the Go To option to see where the related component is stored.

For more details, read: See where attached components are used.

Check for the number of relationships in the Components browser

If you want to see at-a-glance how many other components reference a specific component, you can look in the Components browser. Components that are referenced by another component are marked with a Referenced components icon. Hover over the Referenced component icon to see the number of components that reference a component. A component is only counted once, even if it includes multiple references to this component. To see the names of these components, go to the Where Used tab.

(If you want to see how many times other components reference a component, and not how many individual components, look for the Shared components icon. In this case, all references are counted, even if one component references this component multiple times.)

For more details, read: Check for the number of relationships in the Components browser.

See relationships that failed to be repaired

When a reference to another component is broken or invalid, you can use the auto-repair tool to fix the relationship. After the process finishes you receive a notification. Previously this notification showed you relationships that were successfully repaired and those that failed to be repaired. Now the notification only shows you relationships that failed to be repaired.

For more details, read: Auto-repair an invalid component relationship.

See invalid relationships only on the Manage Component Relationships screen by default

When a reference to another component is broken or invalid, from the Options menu, you can select Advanced, and then select Relationships. On the Manage Component Relationships screen, Inspire previously listed all relationships, which can take time to load. Now the Manage Component Relationships screen initially only shows invalid relationships. To see all relationships, clear the Only Show Invalid Relationships option and click Refresh.

For more details, read: Manage component relationships.

Access the Rebuild All action from the Selected Components panel

To fix multiple broken relationships at once, you can also use the Rebuild All Relationships option. Previously, to access this option you had to select Advanced, and then select Relationships. On the Manage Component Relationships screen you could click Rebuild All Relationships. Now you can select the components that need to be repaired, and on the Selected Components panel you can click Rebuild All to begin the repair process.

For more details, read: Rebuild all relationships in multiple components.

Compare two DocX files

The selected components pane now includes a new icon for Compare DocX. You must select two DocX files and then click Compare DocX. The compare process takes place in the background and the comparison results in a new file stored in Inspire using a name you define. Please note that the GroupDocs Comparison feature is only available for users that have the DocX feature.

For more details, read: Compare two DocX files.

Deselect all options for a completeness report

When you select a component and choose the Completeness Report option from the right-click menu, you can now quickly clear all report options and choose only the few you need. By default, all report options are selected. After you click Deselect and choose only the report options you need, Inspire remembers your selections. The next time you select the Completeness Report option for any component, only the options you chose previously are selected by default. If you want to return to the default of having all report options selected, clear your browser cache.

For more details, read: Check component completeness.

Enhancements to project management

Optionally create one assignment per component

When you create a project assignment, if you add multiple components to the assignment, when you click Create, you see a message asking if you want to create multiple assignments so that there is one component per assignment.

For more details, read: Create an assignment.

Understand permission restrictions to content in projects

A content owner or administrator can set permissions to deny access to components or folders. If your permissions to content is blocked and you are not an administrator, you can see the content in a project's Content pane, but cannot use the options to manage it.

For more details, read: Set permissions.

See a warning message with details when creating a workflow with restricted content

When creating a project assignment that includes components that the project assignee cannot access, you see a warning message. Now that message also lists the components in a project workflow that a user assigned to the project workflow cannot access.

For more details, read: Start a workflow.

Enhancements to translation management

See the new name for Project Director

Project Director is now called GlobalLink Enterprise.

For more details, read: How to work with GlobalLink Enterprise.

See a failure notification for non-existent language pairs in GlobalLink Enterprise

When creating a translation request, in Translation Target, to create a request that doesn't fail you must select a target language that is different from the language used in the source components. You must also select a target language that exists in your project configuration in GlobalLink Enterprise (formerly known as Project Director).

If the language pair cannot be found, the translation job will not be created. For example, you include source components that are written in Japanese instead of English. When you request that the source content be translated into Japanese, that creates a language pair of Japanese to Japanese.

For more details, read: Resolve issues with creating a translation request.

Enhancements to publishing

Use profiles to reduce publishing traffic

If your organization schedules a lot of jobs that are published daily, you can reduce the amount of traffic by selecting an option to check if any of the files have changes and need to be re-published.

If you select the Publish only if updated option and there is new or updated content, Inspire publishes all the components listed in the publishing profile (not just the components with changes). If there is no new or updated content, Inspire does not send any components.

For more details, read: Work with publishing profiles.

As an organization manager, you can see seat changes in the event log

After logging into License Manager as a Standard user that is an Organization Manager, you can now see information for users signing in and reserving a seat, and users signing out and releasing a seat.
