Enhancements to notifications

See all notifications if you are a new user

All new user accounts added to inspire on or after the 2024.1.2.0 release have all notifications turned on by default. To see your module notification preferences, in the top right corner of the Inspire menu bar, click the Settings option.

For more details, read: Change your notification preferences.

Enhancements to content authoring

Clear map profile filters and update a map attribute without issues

Previously, when you opened a map, applied profile filters, saved the file and then reopened it, if you cleared all the profiling filters then Inspire became unresponsive, but you didn't see any errors in event log. This behavior also occurred when you opened map, updated an attribute on the root level, and clicked Accept.

Now, when you clear profile filtering on a map or update a map attribute on the root level, Inspire functions as expected.

For more details, read: Update a map in Oxygen.

Enhancements to component management

See a new icon on the Selected Components pane for Rename File

You can change a component's display name and file name if necessary. When you rename a group of files all at once, on the Selected Components pane, the Rename Files icon has changed.

For more details, read: Rename multiple components at the same time.

Search for components by Locked Date

For greater search flexibility, you can now use Advanced Search to find components by Locked Date.

For more details, read: Search for components by lock date.

Use Edit Structure to open large files

Sometimes you can't open a component because it is too large to display in Oxygen before the 5 minute loading timeout. If this occurs, you can use the Edit Structure option to open the component in Oxygen without resolving all of the referenced content.
  • You see all the content in an outline view and can use all of the relevant options on the Oxygen toolbar.
  • This option is not available inside the Oxygen editor when you select Open another file...
  • This option is also not available when opening multiple files at once

For more details, read: Use Edit Structure to open large files.

Enhancements to review management

Use the See More link for correctly wrapped text

In a review, if there is a large amount of text in the Collaboration pane, the discussion text becomes small and a link appears to See More.

Previously, when the link was selected, the text ran off the screen, was cut off, and does not wrap or display correctly. Resizing panes and screens does not correct this issue.

Now, when you click the See More link, the text wraps and displays all of the text in the message.

For more details, read: Work with review discussions.

Enhancements to translation management

Use the Reference only tab for Project Director Translations exclusively

When you send files to translation, if you send them to Project Director, you can include topics for reference only.
  • You only see this tab if you are sending reference files to Project Director.
  • On the Details tab, in Translation Project, you must select PD Rest.
  • You won't see this tab when you create or update a translation job if you select any of the following Translation Projects: Manual, Transport, and GlobalLink Connect.

For more details, read: Send components to translation.

Non-admin users can submit translations

Previously, if you wanted to give a user who is not currently an administrator the ability to create and submit translation jobs, they must have had the following access permissions: Translation Coordinators role, Content Author and/or Content Editor, and either be an Administrator or have access to the Publishing Configuration Management module.

If a user without these permissions logs into Inspire, opens Components, right-clicks a component and selects Translate, then Inspire becomes unresponsive.

Now, if you want to give a user who is not currently an administrator the ability to create and submit translation jobs, they only need the following access permissions: Translation Coordinators role, and Content Author or Content Editor.

For more details, read: Send components to translation.

Meet the requirements for the pivot to English feature

  • An administrator must enable the TranslationLockSourceDisabled optional feature.
  • An administrator must also turn on one of the following, but not both: PivotToEnglish US translation PivotToEnglishGB feature.
  • An administrator must configure the translation export configuration to include all referenced content.

When sending files to translation:

  • Translation starts with the non English components.
  • The second job for a translation pivot contains the same number of files as the first.
  • If an English component is locked, the entire job fails.
  • Images remain linked to the original language. For example, if the source is in German, images remain linked to the German source components.

Enhancements to publishing

See changes to the publishing screen when comparing map snapshots

When you open the History for a map component, you can select the checkbox for the two snapshots you want to compare, and then click Compare Publish. Publishing from this location no longer includes the following unnecessary options on the Publish Component screen: Validate XML, Create Attachment, and Target Folder.

For more details, read: Compare map snapshots.

See the Component’s Title in the deliverable name

When you publish a component, the deliverable’s name is now the same as the component’s Title.

For more details, read: Track jobs in Publish Server.
