Enable the PivotToEnglishGB translation

If you create content in a language other than English, you can configure Inspire to translate your content to English first. Then Inspire automatically creates a job to translate the English source to the target language. By default, this feature isn't active but as an administrator you can enable it. When using the feature, an administrator can now select the dialect to use as en-GB (English language as it is used in the United Kingdom)

If you want to enable the US dialect instead, follow the steps in Enable the PivotToEnglish translation.

Requirements:

  • An administrator must enable the TranslationLockSourceDisabled optional feature. Follow the steps in: Allow files to remain unlocked during translation.

  • An administrator must turn on one of the following, but not both:

  • An administrator must configure the translation export configuration to include all referenced content. Follow the steps in: Create an export configuration, and:
    • In step 4b, select Translation.
    • In step 5, on the Create Export Configuration screen, select the Relations tab. By default, the element name list is empty and all relations apply to all element types defined within the relation. Make sure the element name list is empty so that the translation export configuration includes all referenced content.
  • The user creating the translation job must select the Pivot to English option. Follow the steps in: Translate to English first.

To enable the PivotToEnglishGBEnabled feature:

  1. From the Administration menu, select Advanced Settings, and then Features management.
  2. On the Features Management tab, after PivotToEnglishGBEnabled, note the state.
    1. If the feature says true, users see the Pivot to English checkbox on the Translate component screen. The dialect will be set to en-GB.
    2. If the feature says false, users don't see the Pivot to English checkbox on the Translate component screen.
  3. After PivotToEnglishGBEnabled, click Update.
  4. The checkbox is highlighted in blue. To change the state, clear or select the checkbox.

    • To set the feature to true, select the checkbox .
    • To set the feature to false, clear the checkbox .
  5. Click Update.

    Troubleshooting issues:

    • If the PivotToEnglishEnabled (US dialect) is also set to true, Inspire uses the US dialect by default.
    • If you want to use the United Kingdom dialect, disable the PivotToEnglishEnabled (US dialect) option.
    • Users must log out and back into Inspire for the setting to take effect.

    When sending files to translation:

    • The translation coordinator only has to select the final Translation Target.
    • Translation starts with the non English components.
    • The second job for a translation pivot contains the same number of files as the first.

    • If an English component is locked, the entire job fails.

    • Images remain linked to the original language. For example, if the source is in German, images remain linked to the German source components.

    • When that job has a State of Completed, Inspire automatically creates another job to send the English source files to be translated into the Translation Target language.
