Enhancements to content authoring

See updates to the Map Editor toolbar

For more details, read: Things you can do from the Oxygen map toolbar.

Enhancements to component management

Check multiple components at once for completeness

Before you publish a component or send it for translation, you can view a report to see if there are any errors or problems.

Now you can select multiple components at once in the Components Browser.

You can't select multiple components at once in a project to run a completeness report.

  • Multiple notifications.
    • You see a separate notification for each component you select.
    • You see a notification when you send the request and when the verification checks you select are complete.
  • Multiple reports
    • You get a separate report for each component you select.
    • All reports include the same filter and verification tests you select on the Check component completeness screen.
    • You can't select different verification tests for each component. If you need to do that, you must create the reports one at a time.
    • You can view your report from the notification telling you the verification checks are complete.

For more details, read: View a completeness report for multiple components

Control which assignments and workflows are in the CSV file

You can save a list of project assignments and workflows to a CSV file for reporting purposes.

You can control which assignments or workflows are included in the CSV file:

  • If you searched the list of assignments, or used advanced search, the file only includes your search results.
  • If you filtered the list of assignments or workflows, the file only includes your filtered results.
  • If you want to include all project assignments, make sure to clear all searches and filters.
  • In the Assignments grid, the new Completed Date column is now included in the CSV file.

For more details, read: Save a list of project assignments and workflows.

Use improvements in the updated Oxygen XML Editor 25.0

Inspire now uses the latest version of the Oxygen XML editor.

• Improved the performance when working with DITA. Large maps and topics now open more quickly.

For more details, read: What’s New in Oxygen XML Web Author 25.0.

See a new file naming format for an exported snapshot

Snapshots are copies of a component you have saved at different intervals so you can recover information from different versions.

You can export a snapshot of a component to maintain a copy outside of Inspire if necessary.

  • You can download the exported snapshot to your computer.
  • If you export a map and all referenced components, they're packaged in a ZIP file.
  • If you export a single component, such as a DITA topic, it isn't packaged in a ZIP file.

Exported snapshots now use the following format:

Export-{Component Name}-{date/time}-{username}.zip

For example, Export-0033_title_Cloud_Computing_Concepts-2022-12-21-03588-jdoemycompany.com.zip

For more details, read: Export a snapshot

Sort all pages in the Component Details screen, on the External References tab

Previously, if you:

  1. Click Components.
  2. In the Folders pane, navigate to the folder where you've saved a component with more than 25 external reference.
  3. Right-click the component and select Details.
  4. Select the External References tab.
  5. Try to sort the list by a column such as External Reference URL.

Results: If a component has more than 25 entries, and there are several pages, sorting is only performed per page.

Now, when you sort on the External References tab, all pages of entries are included in the new sort order.

For more details, read: See details and relationships.

See correct paging details on the External References tab

You can view information about a component from several tabs on the Component Details screen.

  • On the External References tab, you can see a list of components referenced by the selected component.
  • Referenced components might include images, cross-references, and other types of references.

Previously, if you:

  1. Click Components.
  2. In the Folders pane, navigate to the folder where you've saved a component with more than 25 external references.
  3. Right-click the component and select Details.
  4. Select the External References tab.

Results: If a component has more than 25 external references:

  • The number of external references per page is displayed but the list contains more items.
    • For example, the bottom paging says "1-25" results are displayed, but in fact more than 25 links are displayed.
  • On the second page of links, all links are displayed again.
    • For example, 1-27 links are displayed although the paging says "26-27 of 27 Items"

Now, when you scroll through the pages of links on the External References tab, the number of entries match what is shown on the page.

For more details, read: View component details.

Search all Event Log pages

Previously, if you:

  1. From the top menu, select Event log.
  2. On the Event log tab, show or hide any columns you want to search in.
  3. In Search, enter a key word or phrase that can be found in any of the columns.
  4. To further limit the scope, you can use the new Start date and End date fields.
  5. Press Enter.

You see these issues:

  • If there is more than one page of events, you only see search results for the page you are on.
  • If there are events that match your criteria, but they are on a different page, you won't see them.

Now, when you search on the Event log tab, all pages of entries are included in the search results.

For more details, read: Search for logged events.

  3. Right-click the component and select Details.

Control which changeset records are saved to the CSV file

You can go to the Changesets tab to see an ongoing record of all changes made to every component in your instance of Inspire.

If you want to work with the changeset list outside of Inspire, you can save it as a comma separated file that's downloaded to your computer.

  • Search for the changes you want and Inspire now saves only your search results to the CSV file.
  • Filter the list, and the CSV file contains only your filtered results.
  • Sort the changeset list and Inspire now saves your sorted list to the CSV file.

For more details, read: Save the changeset list.

Enhancements to project management

Inspire provides you with a workflow template to use in a project for the process of developing content.

Now, when you edit these Inspire workflow templates, on the Create Activity and Update Activity screens:

  • You can set a default value for a Project Activity.
  • If you don't select a default, the user who starts the project workflow will be required to select a Project Activity.
  • If there are defaults, users can choose to leave them and click Next.
  • If there are defaults, users can choose to change them and then click Next.

For more details, read:

Enhancements to translation management

See Component Details quicker if the component is in translation

Previously, if a component is locked for translation, when you open the Component Details screen, it takes some time to display.

Now, if a component is locked for translation, when you open the Component Details screen, it displays more quickly.

For more details, read: View component details.

Enhancements to publishing

See updates to the CSV file saved when exporting Publishing Profiles

You can create publishing profiles to make it easier to publish content.

  • A publishing profile lets you specify a component, an export configuration, filters, and XML validation options once so that you can use it repeatedly.
  • You can save the list of publishing profiles you've created as a CSV file.

The CSV file has been updated to correct the following issues:

  • Data in some columns was not displaying correctly.
  • Some columns were not included.

For more details, read: Things you can do on the Publishing tab.

Enhancements to administration

Include permissions when copying a role

As an Inspire administrator, you can save a copy of an existing role from the Security menu.

Now you can also include the following permissions from the existing role when you create the new copy:

  • Module Permissions
  • Folder Permissions
  • Component Permissions

For more details, read: Save a role as a new role.

Admins can configure Publishing Plugin Parameters

The DITA Open Toolkit is a publishing engine built with plug-ins.

A plug-in can add support for customizing an existing output format or for publishing DITA content as a new format.

  • You can configure plugin parameters for an export configuration.
  • You can now also manage parameters for Inspire's publishing plugins. You can configure the parameters if you have unique publishing requirements.

To configure plugin parameters for:
