If you have trouble accessing Inspire, you might need to clear your browser cache.

With your browser open:
  1. Press Ctrl+Shift+Del.
  2. From the Time range list, select All time, and then select all checkboxes.
  3. Close the browser.
  4. Try to access Inspire again.

Enhancements to content authoring

See profiling attributes listed by Display Name

Profiling lets you identify conditional text so that you can produce more than one version of a document when the versions differ in minor ways.

  • Each profiling attribute has a Name and a Display Name.
  • On the Update profiling attributes screen, Inspire displays attributes in alphabetical order according to the Display Name.
  • Administrators can change an attribute's display name.

Open another file quickly in Oxygen

After you open a component in Oxygen, Inspire remembers the folder where it's stored.

When you want to open another file or insert an image, the Select Component screen now shows you the last folder you used.

Return to your left panel setting in the map editor

You can organize a set of topics into a hierarchy for publication in the Oxygen map editor.

Now, to help you get to the structure quicker so you don't have to set it every time you open a map:

  • When you use the left side panel in the Oxygen map editor, Inspire remembers your Folders and Outline options.
  • Inspire remembers if you have the panel open, and where you were last working in the Folders and Outline panes.

Enhancements to component management

See when a snapshot was created due to renaming

You can see a chronological record of the significant events that impact a component on the Component Detail's History tab.

Now, if you go to the Components browser and rename a component, the snapshot history shows a process Type of Rename

Check for components that have invalid references

Before you publish a component or send it for translation, you can view a report to see if there are any errors or problems.

When you run a completeness report, You can now check for Components that contain invalid references (links to conrefs, xrefs, topicrefs, etc., that are broken).

Any invalid references are shown in the report.

Search on the Notifications tab without errors

Previously if you went to the top menu, clicked Notifications, went to the Search box, entered a keyword or phrase, and clicked Search, you might have received an error.

Now you can complete a basic keyword search without seeing an error.

View more accurate details about a component's history

You can see a chronological record of the significant events that impact a component on the Component Detail's History tab.

In the grid that lists the historical changes to a component, two columns have been updated:

  • User - now displays the account name of the user who updated the component in any way.
    • This column tells you who last modified the component, including changes that don't update the content such as renaming, moving, translating, or publishing.
    • If you want to see who last made a change that didn't update the content, look in the Last Updated By column.
  • Last Updated By - now displays the account name of the user who last modified the content of the component.
    • If you make a change to a component that doesn't update the content, such as renaming it, you won't see any changes in this column.
You will continue to see the name of the last user who made content changes.

View project assignments that reference a component

You can view all projects that reference the selected component from the Component Detail's Projects tab.

You can now see more details about a project assignment that a component is used in.

  • After you open the Details screen, go to the Projects tab and select a project.
  • Below the project list in the new Assignments pane, you can see the assignments that the component is included in.

Enhancements to translation management

See the Pivot to English option only when the source language isn't English

If you create content in a language other than English, you can configure Inspire to translate your content to English first.

  • Then Inspire automatically creates a job to translate the English source to the target language.
  • By default, this feature isn't active but an administrator can enable it.

The Pivot To English feature now only works if both of the following conditions are true:

  • An Administrator enables the PivotToEnglish feature

The language in the source component is NOT English

Enhancements to publishing management

Save a copy of a publishing profile

After you create a publishing profile, you can update it or you can create a new one by using the Save as option.

See an immediate notification when publishing

On the Publish Component screen, when you click Publish:

  • Now you see in the top-right corner a message that Inspire is preparing your publishing job.
  • This notification happens immediately after you click Publish.
  • You see this notification only as a temporary pop-up on screen.

After Inspire successfully submits the job, you receive another notification that you can review on the Notifications tab, in Slack if it's configured for notifications, and in email.

You see this notification whenever you publish:

  • Components
  • Projects
  • Publishing Profiles
  • Maps
  • Snapshots

Enhancements to administration

Find and Replace is now only available to Administrators

As an administrator, you can search for text in one or more components without opening them.

  • After you select a non-binary, unlocked file from the Components browser, you can look in the Selected Components pane for the snowflake icon.
  • This opens a screen that allows you to search and create a report on the number of times the search text appears.
  • You can also update a component without opening it by using the Replace option on the Find and Replace screen.
  • Inspire creates a report showing you how many times the text was found and replaced.

The Find and Replace option now requires administrator permissions.

  • If you opened a project and selected multiple components, non-admin users might have seen this option on the Selected Components pane.
You no longer see this option on the Selected Components pane unless you are an administrator.

Publish Server

After authoring your content in Inspire, you can publish components in a format your customers can read. Publish Server lets you manage publishing jobs after you submit them in Inspire.

Enhancements to plugin management —

The DITA Open Toolkit is a publishing engine built with plugins. You can now see more information about the plugins you are using on the DITA-OT Plugin tab.

To see if plugins have already been uploaded, you MUST:

  1. In Domain Key, select your organization's domain. For example, mycompany.vasont.com.
  2. In Toolkit Version, select which DITA standard is used in your plug-in.

If you want to contact the last user who updated the plugin, look in:

  • To see the email address of the user, look in Uploaded By
  • To see when the user made updates, look in Updated Date

To download a plugin and customize or update it, click the Download icon.
