Manage versions in snapshots

As you work with a component in Inspire, changes between versions are stored in a file called a snapshot. Inspire creates some snapshots for you. You can also take a snapshot of a component whenever you want. You can see the list of snapshots on the Component Detail's History tab.

You can understand why a snapshot was taken by looking at the columns in the grid.

For more details on all the columns, read View a component's history.

FAQ's

Can I edit a snapshot?

Not directly, but you can save it as a new component or export the content in various ways.

To make changes to a snapshot, you must either save it as a new component or restore it to replace the current version first. To restore a snapshot, follow the steps in Restore a snapshot.

After I restore a component, why do I get a notification that relationships have been rebuilt?

After you restore a component, Inspire runs a background process called Rebuild all relationships. If this process isn't run, you see the following issues:

  • When you right-click a component, select Advanced, and select Relationships..., the list of referenced components isn't correct.
  • When you right-click a component and select Export, the components that Inspire exports aren't correct.

If you restore a component and are still seeing issues, you can manually Rebuild all relationships.
