Update a snapshot

Snapshots are copies of a component you've saved at different intervals so you can recover information from different versions. You can only update details about a snapshot, such as the Name or add Comments. If you want to take a new snapshot, follow the steps in Create a snapshot on demand.

Tips and tricks

  • To see the name of the user who created the snapshot, look in User. This matches the user name on the Component Details screen, on the History tab, in the User column.
  • To see the name of the user who last updated the snapshot, look in Last Updated By. This matches the user name on the Component Details screen, on the History tab, in the Last Updated By column.

To update a snapshot:

  1. Click Components_TopMenuOpt Components.
  2. In the Folders pane, locate the map component that you want to see past versions of.
  3. In the Components pane, right-click the component and then select Details ...
    You can access the same menu by clicking Action_Menu the Options menu.
  4. On the Component Details dialog, select the History tab.
  5. Select the snapshot that you want to update, right-click, and then select Update.
  6. On the Update Snapshot dialog, optionally you can update the title in Name, using 50 characters or less.
  7. Optionally, in Comment, enter additional information using 1,000 characters or less.
  8. On the Update Snapshot dialog, click Save.

    Results: You see the updated Name and Comment text in the snapshots list.

    You see the information in Name and Comment for the last history record regardless if the content was changed or not.
