Enhancements to content authoring

Edit referenced content in place

Administrators can decide whether or not to enable an Oxygen feature that allows authors to edit referenced content in the same document where the reference occurs. For example, a DITA map can be opened with all of the referenced topic content expanded and editable in one document. The EditReferencesInPlace feature is not enabled by default and the Components browser DOES display the Edit with referenced content option when opening a component. If you enable this feature, the Components browser does NOT display the Edit with referenced content option because all components are automatically opened with the ability to edit referenced content in place.

For more details, read: Edit referenced content in place.

Enhancements to component management

Adding files to an existing branch prevents renaming

When creating a branch, if you choose the option to Add to existing Label, then the Rename option is cleared of any value and is no longer available. This behavior is expected because you are adding files to an established branch with an existing Name and Label that has relationships with other files.

For more details, read: Create a component branch.

See new file type icons

For some binary files, Inspire now displays an icon that references the application that created it instead of showing the generic binary file icon. The following binary file types now show a new icon in Components Browser: .pdf, .zip, .docx, .doc, .xls, .xlsx.

For more details, read: What do all those icons mean?

Select the Rebased option when filtering Changesets

When you filter the list of changeset records, you can now select an Inspire Process of Rebased. This process type identifies changes made in Branch management.

For more details, read: Filter changesets by selecting an Inspire Process.

Relink a branched component without seeing a notification

If you want the branched source to use the original version of a referenced component, you can unlink the branched copy. On the Show branches screen, after you find a Branch, select the Options menu, and then select Relink to Original, you no longer see any notifications about the process. The Show branches screen stays open until the process completes.

For more details, read: Relink a branched component in the Hierarchy view.

See a newly created component without refreshing the list

After you create a component in the Components browser, Inspire immediately selects the component and adds it to the Selected Components panel so you can find it.

For more details, read: Creating components.

Enhancements to translation management

Delete a Translation Project without removing users first

Administrators can delete a Translation Project without having to remove users from the Notification tab first. The project will be deleted without errors and any users on the deleted project's Notifications tab will no longer receive notifications for projects that used these settings.

For more details, read: Delete a translation project.

Take an action on multiple translation jobs at once

When you select a Queued Submission job on the Translations Management screen, in the Selected Translations panel you now see a button to Send for Quote and a separate button for Submit.

For more details, read: Submit multiple queued translation jobs.

Enhancements to projects

See two new columns in the Workflow Activity Report

Inspire provides a usage report in a comma-separated value (CSV) file that gives you information about the workflow that includes the component you select. The CSV file now includes two new columns: CompletedDate and DaysActive.

For more details, read: Work with Project Workflow reports for project components.

Claim an assignment

When you create an assignment in a project, you can set the State to Ready to Claim. In this State, no specific user has been assigned to complete the work. Instead, a list of possible users is identified and they are all notified that the assignment can be claimed. The first user to claim the assignment by setting the State to In Progress can complete the work. This option to make an assignment Claimable is available when working with project assignments and workflow activities.

For more details, read:

Set a duration for each activity in a project workflow

When creating or editing a workflow template for a project, you can now configure how long a user has to complete each step. You can set the new field called Duration on any type of workflow Activity. By default, the Duration is set to zero minutes and adding a new time in minutes is allowed but not required.

For more details, read:

Add a new reviewer to a review workflow

If a sequential review workflow is already in progress, you can add another reviewer as long as there is at least one reviewer who has not completed their review yet.

For more details, read: Add a new reviewer to a review workflow.

Set a workflow activity to be Claimable

You can configure a project workflow activity so that a group of users all receive a notification that an assignment (based on the activity) is ready to be worked on. You can select a new option called Claimable on the Create Activity and Update Activity screens. By default, this option is not selected and is optional. If you choose not to use the Claimable option, the activity is assigned to one specific user to complete the work.

For more details, read:

Use a workflow action to automate review creation

You can add an automated action to a workflow so that a writer who is developing content can easily create a review without having to leave the Project's Workflow panel (or the Dashboard). The Topic Workflow template Inspire provides you with includes an Activity for Reviewing content. By default, in a workflow the Transition from the Developing topics Activity to the Reviewing content Activity is completed manually by the user in the Writer Workgroup. To automate the process, you can add an Action to have Inspire open a new Create Review screen automatically and populate any known details so the workflow user can quickly create the review and advance the workflow to the next stage (Reviewing).

Enhancements to publishing

Publish using only one DitaVal file

You can select only one DitaVal file when publishing a map. When you use the Add Ditaval button, you immediately see the screen to select the DitaVal file. There is no longer an Add Ditaval screen to list multiple files.
