Inspire Release 2025.1.4.0

Enhancements to content authoring

See spaces in a link converted to avoid errors

If you add an external link and include spaces, the Oxygen editor flags this as a validation error. Inspire now converts any spaces in an external or regular link to the characters %20. This conversion prevents Oxygen from flagging an error in the link. Inspire converts spaces to %20 when loading a document in Oxygen, and returns the %20 characters back to spaces when the file is saved and submitted.

Enhancements to component management

Submit pending changes and unlock a component

When you're working with components, you may not be able to complete an action if one of the components is locked by another user. If you are unable to contact the user who has the component locked, you may be able to submit the changes for them so that you can unlock it and complete the action that requires it to be unlocked. Rules and restrictions apply.

For more details, read: Unlock and submit a component.

Choose to wait to see a list of referenced components or be notified

You can create a component by branching it or saving a copy as a new one with selected references. If you select the Show referenced components option and this is the first time you are selecting it for this component, then you are prompted to either wait for the list to be built or be notified when the list has been built. After the list of references has been built for the component, it’s saved in Inspire. The next time you choose Show referenced components, the list appears right away unless you have updated the component.

See updates in the report on a map’s publishing activities

You can gather metrics about who has published a map, how often, how long it took to create the map's deliverables, and if it was successful or had issues. Now, when you create a Publish Activity report you must choose a day or a date range. After the report is created, it now shows the Report Date as the day and time when the user requested the report. Also, additional information is provided for the Language in use and the Duration as the number of hours, minutes, and seconds it took Inspire to create the report after the process started (HH:MM:SS).

For more details, read: Create Publish Activity reports.

See the Report Date on all reports

Now that you can forward the notification that a report has been created, the following reports have been updated to include the Report Date as the day and time when the user requested the report: Review, Translation, Component Completeness, Branch, Approval, and Map Asset report.

Enhancements to project management

Use the Create Component option in a project if you aren't an administrator

Previously, if you signed into Inspire as a non-admin user and opened a project that you were included in as a participant, you could see and select a folder, but you couldn't select the option in the right-click menu to create a new component. Now, the Create component menu option is available for project participants who are not administrators to create a new component.

For more details, read: Create a component in a project.

Enhancements to translation management

See a notification if an import fails during translation

When a zip is imported into Inspire during Translation, if the import fails due to malformed XML, the notification is not sent. Now, if an import fails during translation due to malformed XML, the notification is received and the error is logged.

For more details, read: Import translated components.

Enhancements to administration

Use a new Administration role to restrict content access

Inspire now provides a new administrator role called Restricted Content Access. Members of this role can access all Administration configuration functionality but can't access or change actual content. You can use this role to quickly ensure that no one has access to content except approved users.

For more details, read: Manage Restricted Content Access admins.

Create a user access control report

As an administrator, you can create a report that provides the roles and associated account details for all users within an Inspire instance. You can leverage the user access control report to help you manage users who haven't signed into Inspire recently and maintain security and compliance within your organization. The report contains the following information taken from both Inspire and License Manager: EmployeeID, Email, Phone, Role, Last Login. For EmployeeID and Phone Number, a License Manager administrator must add this Attribute and the user's value to the Organization. If the attribute has been added, and a value exists, the data is shown in the report. If the attribute or it's value doesn't exist, the report displays N/A.
