Enhancements to content authoring

Force referenced content to be deleted

When you edit content in the Oxygen editor, if you delete content that's reference by another component, you see a confirmation message:

Are you sure, you are attempting to delete one or more referenced element? Deleting these elements will create invalid links in Inspire.

You can decide if you want to:

  • Leave the content and cancel the deletion of the content, click No. This keeps all reference links valid.
    • As a best practice, you should find where the content is linked and remove the link in the other component.
    • Then you can come back and delete this content without creating invalid links.
    • Follow the steps in See where a component is used.
  • Force the content to be deleted and break reference links, click Yes. This creates invalid links in other components.

For more details, read Reuse content with references in Oxygen.

Copy a cross reference link from one component to another

When you're working on a document in the Oxygen-based editor, you can reuse content from other components by creating a cross-reference.

After creating a cross-reference, you can copy it and paste the link into a different component.

  1. In one document, select the link icon and the link text.
  2. To copy, use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+C or Cmd+C.
  3. In another document, to paste, use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+V or Cmd+V.

For more details, read Copy cross-references between components.

Enhancements to component management

Enhancements to publishing management

Schedule publishing for today only

If you want to publish content on a regular basis, you can enable an option to schedule the time and frequency when a topic or map is published.

  • You must use publishing profiles to create and manage the schedule.

If you select Scheduled publishing, in the Day list, you can use a new option called Today Only.

  • To schedule a publishing job for Today Only, you must:
    • In Time, select a time that is later than the current time—a time in the future.
    • Inspire checks the time you select and compares it against the current time.
    • If the time you select has already passed, you see an error and the publishing profile isn't saved.
    • If the time you select is in the future, the component(s) publish at that time and then Inspire turns off the scheduled publishing job so it will not run again.

For more details, read Schedule publishing.

See a description file in the publishing artifacts

If you have a component that you publish repeatedly and always want to use the same settings, you can create a publishing profile.

When you create a publishing profile, optionally, in Description, you can enter any instructions or guidance on when to use this profile.

Now, if you add text here, when you publish using this profile Inspire creates a file called Description.txt.

  • This Description.txt file is included when you download files from Publish Server.
  • Look in the folder that contains the source files.
