Oxygen Integration

Oxygen is an XML editor that lets you author and develop content using structured markup languages such as XML, XSD, Relax NG, XSL, and DTD. When you're managing content development and publishing cycles in Inspire, you can collaborate with contributors and subject-matter experts using the Oxygen XML editor. If you're used to working in Oxygen's editor, you can edit a component in Inspire with Oxygen editing tools.

FAQs

This version includes improvements in the following areas:

  • Advancements in AI-powered authoring through the new Planner chat mode in Oxygen AI Positron.
  • Enhanced editing capabilities, including DITA improvements, expanded customization options, and improved table editing across multiple formats.

Keep in mind that not all features available in the standalone version of Oxygen are present in Inspire's Oxygen-based editor.

Do I need an Oxygen license to use it inside Inspire?

Yes.

In Inspire, you can see options to edit and view a component in Oxygen if:

  • You or an administrator has purchased an Oxygen License for yourself or your company
  • You or your administrator has asked Vasont to add your license(s) to our License Manager application
Inspire customers can't access License Manager directly, but you can contact Vasont and one of our internal System Admins will add your Oxygen license(s) to your instance of Inspire. Only your company can access Oxygen using your licenses.

Do I have access to all Oxygen features?

No.

Some advanced or premium functions have been removed to make the Oxygen XML Web Author software lighter and easier to use inside Inspire.

Inspire's Oxygen editor gives you access to many of the essential Oxygen features you need to edit content.

Choosing the option to Edit in Oxygen doesn't open the full version of Oxygen, but instead opens an editor inside Inspire. After you choose to edit a component, you can complete the following tasks with Inspire's version of the Oxygen editor:

Can I export an Inspire component to edit in my own version of Oxygen?

Yes.

You can export content from Inspire, edit the file in your own version of Oxygen, and then import it back into Inspire to continue managing and collaborating on the content with other users in your organization.

Can I import an XML file that I created in my own version of Oxygen into Inspire?

Yes.

You can import XML files into Inspire as components to not only edit them but also manage them using Inspire's content development, collaboration, and publishing workflow tools.

Remember that translated components need to be imported into Inspire differently. Follow the steps in: Import translated components.

Does Inspire document all the Oxygen Web XML Author features?

No.

Inspire's version of the Oxygen XML Web Author software doesn't include some advanced or premium functions.
