Grant permissions to options in Oxygen

When a user opens a component in the Oxygen editor, certain options in the toolbar are turned on or off by default and can be managed by the user. Now an administrator can configure Oxygen behavior for users and roles by applying properties for the Content Module on the Module access management.

Force track changes to stay on

The force_track_changes property hides the Change Tracking option and automatically tracks all changes for all users except administrators.

  • By default, all users can see and toggle the Change Tracking option in the Oxygen editor.
  • If you add a non-administrator user or role to this property, then the user or role:
    • Doesn't see the Change Tracking option
    • Can make changes to the content
    • The changes are highlighted
    • The Change Tracking option cannot be turned OFF

The settings for these properties do not apply when editing a component in a review.

To grant permissions for this property, follow the steps in: Force track changes to stay on.

Force track changes to stay off

The disable_track_changes_button property hides the Change Tracking option and does NOT track any changes.

  • By default, all users can see and toggle the Change Tracking option in the Oxygen editor.
  • If you add a non-administrator user or role to this property, then the user or role:
    • Doesn't see the Change Tracking option
    • Can make changes to the content
    • The changes are NOT highlighted
    • The Change Tracking option cannot be turned ON

The settings for these properties do not apply when editing a component in a review.

To grant permissions for this property, follow the steps in: Force track changes to stay off.

Disable the ability to accept or reject changes

The disable_accept_reject property hides the buttons to accept or reject a change when Change Tracking is turned on.

  • These buttons are available when a user clicks in the changed text in the Oxygen editor, and:
    • Opens the right side panel, and goes to the Comments pane
    • Uses the main toolbar
    • Uses the right-click menu option
    • Clicks a highlighted change
  • By default, all users can see the Accept and Reject action buttons for the change, as well as the Accept All and Reject All buttons at the bottom of the pane.

  • If you add a non-administrator user or role to this property, then the user or role:
    • Can see the change in the text and the Comments pane
    • Can reply to the change
    • Can mark the change as Done
    • Can delete the text that was inserted
    • Cannot see the Accept button
    • Cannot see the Reject button
    • Cannot see the buttons at the bottom of the Comments pane

    • Cannot see the options on the main toolbar

The settings for these properties do not apply when editing a component in a review.

To grant permissions for this property, follow the steps in: Disable accept and reject.

Enable the ability to delete other user's comments

The allow_delete_other_comment property makes the Remove button active in a comment when the current user editing the component did not create the comment.

  • This button is available when a user clicks in the changed text in the Oxygen editor, opens the right side panel, and goes to the Comments pane.
  • By default, a user can only select the Remove action button if they created a comment.
  • If you add a non-administrator user or role to this property, then the user or role can do the following even if they did not create the comment:
    • Can see the comment text in the Comments pane
    • Can reply to the comment
    • Can edit the comment
    • Can Remove the comment (from the toolbar as well, and can remove all comments)
    • Can mark the comment as Done

The settings for these properties do not apply when editing a component in a review.

To grant permissions for this property, follow the steps in: Allow another user to delete your comment.

Disable the ability to edit the XML source

The disable_xml_view property hides the option in the Oxygen editor to Edit XML Source.

  • By default, this option is available to all users when working in the Oxygen editor.
  • Any user can select the More... menu, and then Edit XML Source.
  • If you add a non-administrator user or role to this property, then the user or role cannot select this option, and cannot see or work in the XML Source view in Oxygen.

Disabling this option does not prevent a user from exporting the component, editing the XML source in another application, and the importing it back into Inspire.

The settings for these properties do not apply when editing a component in a review.

To set permissions for this property, follow the steps in: Disable the Edit XML Source view.
