Manage translation settings

As an Inspire administrator, you can manage the different types of processes you use to facilitate the production, editing, and proofreading of your content into a different language. For example, the majority of your clients work in GlobalLink Enterprise (formerly known as Project Director), but a few don't. You can create projects types for the clients who work in GlobalLink Enterprise, and one for the clients who you need to contact directly.

Project Director has been renamed to GlobalLink Enterprise.

How can I manage translation projects?

Add a new translation project — provide details about the project type such as if there's application integration, if this type is being actively used, and any specific attributes you need to use to send additional required information.

Manage attribute-only changes — specify if topics with only attribute changes should be flagged for translation or ignored.

Collect translations options in a configuration — if you want to reuse a group of translation options repeatedly without having to re-enter or select the information for every translation job, an Administrator can create a configuration.

Specify how the project files are sent — You can send a ZIP file manually or send files to an application that Inspire communicates with, such as GlobalLink Enterprise.

Update project information when it changes — You can change details about a project type. This is useful if you have a client who starts working in GlobalLink Enterprise.

Delete a project that isn't being used — You can clear the Active checkbox to hide a project type or delete it permanently.

Create a group of languages that are frequently used together — When a coordinator creates a translation project, instead of having to select each language, they can save time by just selecting a group of languages.

Managing integration between Inspire and Translator

As an administrator, you can configure Inspire to communicate with external applications when content is ready to be translated.

  • You can add a translation integration method to automate the sending and receiving of files to a translation management system, such as GlobalLink Enterprise.
    • Inspire automatically submits and retrieves translations from GlobalLink Enterprise using a project code and vendor attributes.
    • You can integrate with an application that Inspire communicates with using these integration methods: GlobalLink Portal (formerly Transport), GlobalLink Connect, and GlobalLink Rest APIs.
  • You can also add a manual integration method to let translation coordinators know that Inspire isn't communicating with an external application when content is ready to be translated.
    • You can export files for translation yourself and send them to the linguist.

Where did vendor management go?

As Inspire continues to support integration with other applications, functionality and terminology may change.
  • The term Vendor management has been changed to Project management to allow for the cases where vendor information is already stored in another application that Inspire can communicate with.
  • For example, when integrating with GlobalLink Enterprise, vendor details are already available and don't need to be changed. In this integration scenario, Inspire doesn't need to capture new vendor information, but only request it from GlobalLink Enterprise.
  • For some Translation Projects, the Status of At Vendor has been changed to In Progress.
  • For some Translation Projects, the previously used In Progress status (when a job is partially completed) has been changed to Partially Completed.
  • When you create a translation project and select an Integration Method of GlobalLink Connect:
    • Attributes come directly from GlobalLink Enterprise instead of Inspire.
    • Languages come directly from GlobalLink Enterprise instead of Inspire.
    • A Workflow option is displayed.
    • Due Date is not automatically set if left empty.
