Inspire Release 2025.2.6.0

Enhancements to content authoring

Understand restrictions to attribute usage

In Inspire, administrators can mark an attribute as Protected. If an attribute has the Protected property, when you are working in the Oxygen editor, you cannot delete or update protected attributes unless you have been granted explicit permissions or are an administrator. Attribute protection is enforced in the Oxygen editor in the following places: Author mode, Edit XML Source mode, Reviews, and Resolving reviews.

For more details, read: Define elements in the Attributes pane.

Enhancements to component management

Branch components using an existing label

On the Save As Branch screen, you see a new option called Add to Existing Label. If you select this option, you cannot enter a unique label. Instead, you can select from a label that has already been saved during the creation of another branch. Using this option adds the selected components to the previously-saved branch.

For more details, read: Create a component branch.

Use advanced search in changesets

In the Changesets module, on the Changesets tab, you can open an Advanced Search panel to create logic that asks a question about the data in the Changeset records. In Advanced Search you can write a query using the Field, Operator, and Value options to add criteria, and the And/Or options to group multiple clauses in your query. Advanced searches give you more flexibility for finding exact matches and structural conditions.

For more details, read: Use advanced search in Changesets.

Download multiple notifications

If you want to download more than one notification body, you can select multiple notifications and use the Selected Components panel to download a ZIP file of each notification body in its own PDF.

For more details, read: Download multiple PDFs of notification bodies.

See enhancements when adding an attachment to a component

  • On the Select Components screen, the components you already selected are not shown so that you cannot accidentally select them again.
  • The Create Attachment screen layout has been updated to provide more space between the title and text box.
  • On the Create Attachment screen, you can enter text up to 1000 characters without seeing an error.
  • On the Attachments tab, the Text column is now shown by default.

For more details, read: Add an attachment to a component.

Relink a branched component

After you make a branched copy of a component, Inspire maintains the relationship between the original component and the new branched copy. If you want the branched source to use the original version of a referenced component, you can unlink the branched copy. The existing relationship between the branched source component and its reference to the branched component you are unlinking is deleted.

Inspire creates a new component relationship between the branched source component and the original component reference. The branched source component now references the original component. The unlinked branched component remains and is no longer referenced by any other source component.

For more details, read: Relink a branched component.

Enhancements to translation management

See all translation screens using Translate Binary

On all screens, reports, and downloads in Inspire that deal with translation, the old label Include Binary has been changed to Translate Binary.

For more details, read: Update translation details.

Keep the Translate component screen open

After you open the Translate component screen to enter details about a translation job, you can keep the screen open while searching other Inspire screens for details to complete the translation request. You can now minimize the Translate component screen and open other screens in Inspire. The Translate component screen becomes a blue bar at the bottom of the screen that you can reopen to continue working on that screen. You can only have one Translate component screen open at a time.

For more details, read: Translate Components.

Enhancements to publishing

Apply a DitaVal file when publishing a map or bookmap

When you publish a map or bookmap component, on the Publish component screen you see a new button called Add DitaVal. You can use this button to select a Ditaval file that specifies the conditions to include and exclude when you generate your output. When you click Publish, Inspire uses the Ditaval file (along with any other filters and options you selected) to create the published deliverable.

For more details, read: Publish from a map.

Enhancements to administration

Create a user composite activity report

If you want to see a report on how often all users signed in to Inspire over a period of days, you can create a report to see more details. This report tells you the last sign in date, the number of days since the user last signed in, and how many minutes they stayed signed in to Inspire. You can also see some details about what the user did while signed in, such as how long they worked in the Oxygen editor, and how many times they submitted changes.

For more details, read: Create a user composite activity report.

Protect an attribute from being altered in Oxygen

In Inspire, administrators can create or update an attribute and mark it as Protected. If an attribute has the Protected property, users working in the Oxygen editor cannot delete or update protected attributes unless they have been granted explicit permissions or are an administrator. Attribute protection is enforced in the Oxygen editor in the following places: Author mode, Edit XML Source mode, Reviews, and Resolving reviews.

For more details, read: Work with protected attributes.
