Insert an Inspire image

When working in the Oxygen-based editor, you can insert images into your documents. You can also insert an image by following the steps in Drag and drop an image into a document.

Tips and tricks

  • If you haven't added the image to Inspire yet, follow the steps in Import an image.
  • If you don't want to manage a graphic in Inspire, you can insert an image into a topic by specifying the address where it's located using a URL. Follow the steps in Insert an external image.
  • If you haven't imported the image yet, you can:
  • You can an insert a PDF file the same as you would an image and it's stored as a binary file. Follow the steps in Insert a PDF into a topic.
  • After you open a component in Oxygen, Inspire remembers the folder where it's stored. When you want to open another file or insert an image, the Select Component screen shows you the last folder you used.

To insert an image:

  1. From the top menu click Components.
  2. In the Folders pane, open the folder that contains the document you want to add an image to.
  3. In the Components pane, select the document, right-click it, and then select Edit...
  4. In the editor, put your cursor where you want to insert the image.
  5. From the toolbar, select the Image menu, and then select Insert image...
  6. On the Select Component screen, in Folders, navigate to the image file you want to reference, select the file, and then click Select.
    Oxygen supports the following formats:
    • EPS (The Encapsulated Post Script graphic only displays in Oxygen when the graphic was created with a preview in the source application. For example, Adobe Illustrator.)
    • BMP
    • GIF (animations not supported yet)
    • JPG, JPEG
    • PNG
    • SVG, WMF
    • TIFF
  7. In the toolbar, do one of the following:
    • To save your changes locally and keep working in the document in Oxygen, click Oxygen_save Save.
    • To save your changes to the database and close the document, click Save and Submit.
