Tips and tricks

Cancel GlobalLink Portal Jobs.

GlobalLink Portal was formerly known as GlobalLink Transport.

  • If you sent components to translation using GlobalLink Portal, then you can also cancel the translation job there.

Find the method used to send a job to translation.

How do I know if I'm cancelling a job sent to GlobalLink Enterprise?

Project Director has been renamed to GlobalLink Enterprise.

  1. Go to the Translation Management tab.
  2. Look in the SubId column. GlobalLink Enterprise generates this ID. If there is an ID, then this job was sent to GlobalLink Enterprise.
  3. Look in the Project column. If the job was sent using an Inspire REST API method or a custom configuration your organization has created that uses the API method, it could have been sent to GlobalLink Enterprise.

Consider using Force Completed instead of cancelling.

If most of a translation job is done, instead of cancelling the job, you can force a State of Completed. This is helpful if you have a job with multiple components and most are translated but the rest are cancelled. Also, sometimes you know that one component you sent for translation isn't ever coming back. This causes the State of the job to remain as Partially Completed. You can decide the job is done and manually set the State to Completed. Follow the steps in Force a translation job to be Completed.

Reset a job after it's cancelled.

You can reset a cancelled translation job and translation components. If a job is cancelled in GlobalLink Enterprise (formerly known as Project Director) or Inspire, resetting the job changes its Status back to In Progress.

  • Resetting a job in Inspire has no impact on the job in GlobalLink Enterprise. A user in GlobalLink Enterprise must reset the workflow there.
Follow the steps in Reset a translation job in Inspire.

To cancel a translation job in Inspire:

  1. Select Translations_TopMenuOpt Translations.
  2. On the Translations Management tab, in the list, find the translation you want to cancel.

On the Translation Management tab, you see a list of translation jobs filtered by your role.

    • Both administrators and translation coordinators are able to view translation jobs created by themselves as well as those created by other users.
      • Translation coordinators who aren't also admins can select or clear the See All option to filter the list.

After you select the See All option, you must click Search to see an updated list of jobs.

      • Translation coordinators who are also admins don't get the See All option because as an Admin they can already see all jobs in the organization.
    • Users who don't belong to either of these roles don't get the See All option and can only see the translation jobs they created.
If you can't find the job you're looking for, do any of the following:
    • If there are multiple pages, scroll to the next page using the controls at the bottom of the list.
    • Sort the list by clicking a column heading.
    • Search for items in the list that contain a key word or phrase.
    • Limit the list to show only jobs in the Cancelled state. By default, the options for Include Completed and Include Cancelled are already selected.
  3. Right-click on the job or use Action_Menu the Options menu to select Cancel.
  4. In the Cancel Translation message, click Yes.
If you want to cancel an entire translation job sent to a vendor with the following criteria:
    • The vendor is working in an external application that Inspire can communicate with, such as GlobalLink Enterprise.
    • An administrator configures that vendor as using API Integration.
    • An administrator configures that Translation Project to accept cancellations.
    • The translation is currently in the Translating, AtVendor, or In Progress state.
You'll see a message asking if you also want to also cancel that job in the external application
  5. If you see a Cancel in GlobalLink Enterprise message, click Yes.
    Results:
    • You see a notification that the process has started.

    • You see a notification when the process completes.

    • On the Translations Management tab, for the selected job, you now see a State of Cancelled.

    • As the translation coordinator, you'll receive an email notification for each translation job you cancelled.
    • When you complete a task that triggers a notification, such as managing translation jobs, the Slack and email message bodies contains:
      • The translation job ID. (For GlobalLink Enterprise and TransPerfect jobs.)
      • The translation job Name.
      • A list of target Languages used in the translation job.
      • If the job was successfully Cancelled in GlobalLink Vasont Inspire.
      • User Name of the account that completed or cancelled the translation job.
      • The notification with ten or less Issues, Errors, and Warnings.
      • A link at the bottom of the message [See Full Version].
      • You can click the [See Full Version] link to expand a section under the link with the full details.
    • Check for target files. In translation, a target file is a copy of the source file that can been translated into a different language.
      • When you send a component to translation, Inspire creates a target file for each language you include in the translation request. This target file includes the original source content.
      • If you cancel a translation job before a target file is translated, then Inspire removes the target file.
      • If you cancel a translation job after a target file is translated, then Inspire leaves the target file even though the translation job was cancelled. This allows you to retain the translated file.
