Split large jobs sent to GlobalLink Enterprise
If you're sending a large amount of files to GlobalLink Enterprise (formerly known as Project Director) for translation, you can have Inspire analyze the files and automatically create multiple submissions. The number of submissions Inspire creates is based on a maximum value that an administrator can set. This value determines how Inspire splits up the files into multiple jobs by language.
Tips and tricks:
- This translation feature is useful when you have a map with a large number of references.
- Project Director has been renamed to GlobalLink Enterprise.
- In GlobalLink Enterprise, most jobs have a default maximum of 5000 documents.
- You must prepare for translation job splitting.
- To set a Maximum Document value, admins can go to Translation integration management and open the GlobalLink Enterprise Configuration.
- If an admin uses a value of 0, Inspire will not analyze the translation job or split the submission.
- Administrators can follow the steps in Set a Maximum Document value for PD jobs.
- Understand how a job is split by Inspire:
- The definition of source components is the selected component(s) plus all referenced content.
If the number of source components is more than the Maximum Document value, Inspire creates a submission for each language.
If the number of source components multiplied by the number languages is more than the Maximum Document value, Inspire:
Figures out how many languages can fit into one submission.
Creates submissions for each group of languages.
- Each submission that is created includes a suffix of a dash and a number (-1, -2, -3, etc.) to help you identify the parts of the submission that was split up.
When creating a translation request for a large number of files, you do not need to select an option or set any special value. If an administrator sets a Maximum Document value, Inspire analyzes your job automatically and splits it if necessary.
