Working with DOCX files
DOCX is the file format used by Microsoft Word to store documents. The DOCX format does include XML. DOCX files are essentially a collection of XML files compressed into a single ZIP file. These XML files store various parts of the document, such as text, formatting, styles, and images.
If you don't see the DOCX options described in these topics, contact your Vasont salesperson to purchase this feature.
Inspire only currently supports DOCX in a limited capacity:
- Importing. If you import a DOCX file, it is stored as a binary file, like an image. You cannot edit or change the content in Inspire.
- Viewing. You can view the first two pages of a DOCX file. There is no component preview in the Components browser.
- Publishing. For some customers, Inspire provides a publishing configuration and a publishing plug-in for DOCX.
If the DOCX publishing option is supported for your organization, when you publish a component, on the Publish Component screen, you can select the Publish Docx option.
If published successfully, you can download a deliverable in the DOCX file format that you can open in Microsoft Word.
- Comparing. You can ask Inspire to create a new DOCX file that contains the differences between two source DOCX files. You can get two DOCX source files into Inspire by importing two DOCX files. Import one version into Inspire, and then make changes to it or create a new one in Microsoft WORD. Then you need to import the second version into Inspire to compare them
