Delete a template status

If you don't need to select a status when you create or update an activity, you can permanently delete it from the list on the Status Management screen.

Before you begin

  • A Status is unique to the template it's included in.
  • If you delete a status from one workflow template, such as Writing, it will not remove any other Writing statuses in other templates.
  • You can't delete a Status if it's used in an Activity.

    You must update or remove all Activities in the template that use the Status before you can delete it.

To delete a template status:

  1. Click Components.
  2. In the Folders pane, select Workflows.

    If you have moved the template to another folder, go that location instead.

  3. In the Components pane, select a workflow.

    To open the template, do one of the following:

    • Double-click the file
    • Right-click the file, and then select Edit...
    • Click the Options menu, and then select Edit...
    Results: You see the workflow activities and transitions in the editor.
  4. On the toolbar, select Statuses.

  5. On the Status Management screen, find the status you want to delete and select Delete Activity.

  6. On the confirmation screen, click Yes.
  7. On the Status Management screen, click Save.
    Results:
    • The selected status is no longer listed on the Status Management screen.
    • When you create or update an activity, you can no longer select the status.
    You can now:
    • If you are done updating the workflow, to close the workflow editor, click Save and Submit.
    • If you want to keep working but save your changes locally, click Save Progress.
    • If you want to make other changes to a review workflow, continue to Update the review workflow template.
    • If you want to make other changes to a topic workflow, continue to Update the topic workflow template.
