Display topic content in a map

When you're organizing topics into a map's hierarchy, you can change how you see the content in a map to view the actual content in the topic without leaving the Oxygen map editor. You can't edit the content in this view but you can see elements such as images and links as they will appear in the published output.

You can change the content you see in a map in other ways:

You can see the following information in the Topic Content view:

The Title of the map

An expand/collapse arrow to show or hide content

The Title of the topic

The Filename of the topic

The content of the topic

To display topic content in a map:

  1. Click Components.
  2. In the Folders pane, navigate to the map that you want to update.
  3. In the Components pane, right-click the map component and then select Edit ...
    You can also open the map by:
    • Double-clicking
    • Clicking Action_Menu the Options menu, and then selecting Edit ...
    Result: Each topic reference has:

    • A blue expand/collapse arrow
    • A link to open the topic for editing
    • The topic Title
    • The topic Filename
  4. At the top of the editing pane on the toolbar, select the View menu and then select View Topic Content.
    If you select View Topic Content and leave it on that mode when you save or close the map, the next time you open it all the references in the map are collapsed due to memory and performance concerns.
  5. To see the topic's content, click the blue expand button .
    Result: You now see the content for that one topic reference as it will render in output.

  6. To hide the topic's content, click the blue collapse button .
  7. To save any changes and close the map, in the toolbar, click Save and submit.
