Check where a component is used from the browser

If you want to see a list of all components that reference the selected component without opening the Details screen, you can do it from the Components browser in the More Component Information panel. The details you see are the same as when you use the Options menu to select Details... and then select the Where used tab.

To see a larger screen with the Where Used details, follow the steps in: See where a component is used.

To check where a component is used from the browser:

  1. Click Components_TopMenuOpt Components.
  2. In the Folders pane, navigate to the folder where you've saved the component.
  3. In the Components pane, select the component whose details you want to view.
  4. In the More Component Information panel, select the Where used tab.

If the panel isn't open, click the down arrow in the panel's title bar.

  5. You can select a component to see the reference details in the bottom pane:

    • Target: the name of the component that is referenced
    • Type: the XML reference type such as cross-reference (xref) or content reference (conref)
    • Id: the name of the component that is referenced with the GUID
    • Status: tells you if the link reference can be found (Valid) or the reference cannot be found (Invalid)
