Understand how states change
In the Components browser, the State column lets you quickly identify appropriate actions you should take on a file based on the icon. When you send a component out for translation, Inspire updates the State icon to let you know what's been done to the component and what actions you can take.
- When you're selecting a component to translate, it can be in any State (Draft, Approved, or Signed).
- The component must be unlocked.
- When you send a component out for translation:
- Inspire creates a folder for each language you select.
- Inspire creates a copy of the component you want translated and puts it into the new language folder.
- For the copy of the component, Inspire sets its State to Needs Translation .
- Inspire may lock the copy of the component in the language folder.
- By default, source components are locked when sent to translation.
- The lock setting can be configured by Vasont, so you may see something different from the default behavior.
- When a job is successfully submitted, Inspire sets its State to Translating.
- When a job contains cancelled and completed components, the State changes to Partially Completed.
- Administrators can review jobs in this state and force them to have a status of Completed. For more information, read Force a translation job to be Completed.
- Forcing a State of Completed is helpful if you have a job with multiple components and most are translated but the rest are cancelled. Also, sometimes you know that one component you sent for translation isn't ever coming back. This causes the State of the job to remain as Partially Completed. You can decide the job is done and manually set the State to Completed.
- When a component comes back from translation and is imported:
- For the imported copy of the component, Inspire sets its State to Draft and the copy is unlocked .
- If you update the imported copy of the component, Inspire change the State back to Needs Translation .
- If you cancel a translation job, for all the components in the language folders, Inspire does not change the State.
- Components in cancelled jobs remain in a State of Needs Translation .
- Inspire unlocks the copy of the component in the language folder.
- Keeping the State of Needs Translation is helpful if you want to find components that have been sent out for translation and the job was cancelled.
- Administrators can review jobs in the Cancelled state and force them to have a status of Completed. For more information, read Force a translation job to be Completed.
