Exclude multiple components from taxonomy

If you know that more than one component shouldn't be included in a classification, you can use a component tag to tell other users not to add those components to your taxonomy.

You must have update permissions to make tag changes for the component. Tags are read-only for users without update permissions.

To exclude only one component, read Exclude a component from taxonomy.

To exclude multiple components from taxonomy:

  1. Click Components menu.
  2. From the Components browser, locate the component you want to apply tags to and select the checkbox next to that component.

The component appears in the Selected Components pane.

  3. Continue to select and add components you want to exclude from your taxonomy.
  4. In the Selected Components pane, click Apply Tags Apply_Tags.
  5. In the Apply Tags dialog, in Tags, select ExcludeFromTaxonomy.

    • If you don't see the option you need, contact your Administrator. You can only select a tag from the list if an Administrator allows the use it.
    • Inspire may remember the components you choose on the Selected Components panel. After you select Apply Tags from the toolbar, those components remain listed on the Selected Components panel. If you want to choose different components to act on or clear the components listed, go to the Selected Components toolbar and click the Clear all icon .
  6. Select Save.
    Results:
    • The Apply tags screen closes and you see the Components browser.
When the process is finished, you see one message for all updated components:
    • In the pop-up message in the right corner of the Inspire screen
    • In Inspire on the Notifications tab
    • In your email Inbox
