Add an existing topic to a map

When you're organizing topics into a map's hierarchy, you can add references to topics that you've already created.

  1. Click Components.
  2. On the Folders pane, navigate to the map that you want to update.
  3. On the Components pane, right-click the map component and then select Edit...
  4. In the left Outline pane, select a reference above or below the place where you want to add a new reference.
  5. To add a topic at the same level (as a sibling node) and below the current reference:
    1. Right-click reference, and select Insert after.
    2. From the list select Topic Reference.
    3. On the Insert Reference dialog, click Reference.
  6. To add a topic at the same level (as a sibling node) and above the current reference:
    1. Right-click reference, and select Insert before.
    2. From the list select Topic Reference.
    3. On the Insert Reference dialog, click Reference.
  7. To add a topic underneath and indented to the right (as a child node):
    1. right-click the Map element, and then select Append child
    2. Select Topic Reference, and then Reference.
  8. On the Select Components dialog, browse the Folders or use a Search Query to find one or more components to add to the map.
    Inspire automatically opens the last folder you used to insert a link or image.
  9. After you find the components, select the checkboxes for the ones you want to add to the map, and then click Select.
    The topics you added appear in the center pane.
  10. Repeat steps 4-9 to create more topic references in the map.
  11. To save your changes and close the map, click Save and submit .
