Access map options in the Outline pane

When you edit a map, you can see the changes that you make to the structure in the Outline panel. Looking at the structure not only shows you the hierarchical dependencies between elements, but gives you access to a right-click menu of options.

When you go to the left side panel and open the Outline pane, you can right-click an element to see more options.

To access right-click options in the Outline pane:

  1. Open a map for editing.
  2. In the editor, the Outline panel is shown by default.
    • If you don't see it, either click the Show arrow or the Outline option.
  3. In Structure, right-click an element and choose one of the following options:
    • Edit Attributes. Opens the Attributes panel so you can insert and edit attribute values for the selected target node.
    • Append child. Displays a list of elements so you can create a map node as a child of the currently selected node.
    • Insert before. Displays a list of elements so you can create a map node before the currently selected node.
    • Insert After. Displays a list of elements so you can create a map node after the currently selected node.
    • Cut. Removes the current node and saves a copy of the current node to the clipboard. You can use the right-click menu in the central pane to access the Paste special option to re-insert this reference.
    • Copy. Saves a copy of the current node to the clipboard. You can use the right-click menu in the central pane to access the Paste special option to re-insert this reference.
    • Delete Element. Removes the current node.
    • Rename Element. Displays a list of elements so you can replace the current reference type with a different one.
    • Expand All. Refreshes the list of elements in the Structure and shows all parent and child nodes. If all nodes are being shown, you will also see a Collapse All option. This option refreshes the list of elements in the Structure and shows only parent nodes.
    • Where used. Opens the Where used screen to see a list of all components that reference the selected component.
    • Go to. Opens the Components browser and highlights the referenced component in the folder where it's stored.
